Terms of Service

1. Our services

Syntrix provides authorised security testing services, including WiFi security audits and website penetration testing. The specific service, scope and deliverables for your engagement will be agreed with you in writing before any work begins.

2. Authorisation is mandatory

We will not test any network, system or application without your prior, signed, written authorisation. You confirm that you own the target of testing, or are otherwise fully authorised to permit testing of it. You are responsible for obtaining any third-party permissions (for example, from a hosting provider or landlord) that may be required.

3. Scope

Testing is limited to the assets and activities defined in your agreed scope and authorisation. Anything outside that scope is excluded. Changes to scope must be agreed in writing and may affect pricing and timing.

4. Your responsibilities

• provide accurate information about the systems to be assessed;
• ensure appropriate backups exist before testing begins;
• grant the access reasonably required to perform the service;
• act on findings and apply remediation at your discretion.

5. Nature of security testing

Security testing carries inherent risk. While we take great care and use controlled methods, testing can in rare cases affect system availability or performance. A penetration test provides a point-in-time assessment and cannot guarantee that every vulnerability has been identified, or that a system is “unhackable”. New vulnerabilities may emerge after testing concludes.

6. Reports and deliverables

We provide reports for your internal use. Reports remain confidential between us and you and must not be republished, resold or presented as a certification without our written consent. Remediation advice is offered in good faith; implementing it is your responsibility.

7. Fees and payment

Fees are as quoted for your engagement. Fixed-price tiers are payable as agreed; bespoke and larger engagements are quoted individually. Please refer to our Refund Policy for cancellations and refunds.

8. Confidentiality

Each party agrees to keep the other's confidential information secure and to use it only for the purposes of the engagement. Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law. Subject to that, our total liability arising from an engagement is limited to the fees paid for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses arising from your failure to act on our recommendations.

10. Acceptable use

Your use of our services and any deliverables is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
